Urban Design:
Widett Circle
For an exploratory urban design seminar, I envisioned a potential future for Widett Circle in Boston, which incorporated an extension of the Fort Point Channel and the connection of currently-unused rail infrastructure to create a transit oriented, mixed-use development with easy access to both Downtown Boston and the new construction in the South Boston Seaport.
Designs are responsive to the unique nature of the site, bounded on all sides by transportation infrastructure and vulnerable to flooding. Green spaces and permeable construction allow the site to absorb water, while building design shields residents from nearby highways while creating a series of plazas open to the sky and the proposed waterway extension.
